The Quranic Schools Organization, affiliated to country’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs Ministry has urged school students to register for the 2020 edition of the event by July 8, alsahwa.om website reported.
Hilal bin Hamoud al-Riyami, head of the organization, said 18,750 students had taken part in the previous editions.
This year, the number of participants is expected to be around 5,000, he added.
The congress is slated to be organized on July 12-16, al-Riyami said.
Quran memorization, reading some Surahs (chapters) of the Holy Book and teaching Tajweed principles will be among the programs of the congress, he went on to say.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and restrictions imposed to prevent the spread of the disease, many Quranic programs in different countries have gone online.
